Riga Nightlife

For many years Riga has been known as a party city, where bars and clubs stay open until sunrise, even in the dark winter months. Riga nightlife has always been centred around the Old Town, however this is gradually changing as more bars and cool hang-outs open in the city.

People visit Latvia for many reasons, however enjoying the Riga nightlife is something that most have in common. The Old Town is home to trendy cocktail bars, traditional folk clubs and the odd obligatory Irish pub.

KKC Riga - Experience BalticsThe small cobbled streets and open squares buzz in the summer months, with terraces and beer gardens full of people enjoying the long evenings.
For those who are willing to venture out of the Old Town and into the ‘centre’, the real Riga nightlife awaits. With fewer tourists, the vibe changes and becomes more relaxed. One of the most popular areas with locals is just 15minute walk from the Old Town. Kaņepes Kultūras centrs (KKC) has become a hang-out for hipsters, artists and casuals alike, enjoying open air concerts, gigs and socialising.

For craft beer lovers, Riga does not disappoint. Micro-brewery Labietis is well worth a visit, with 12 different beers made onsite. If variety is more your thing then check Beer Fox and Alķīmiķis, the latter also having its own micro-brewery on site.

Once the bars start to wind down, it’s the clubs that get busy…None more so than Coyote Fly and Club First, these two clubs are by far the best know and the most popular. Coyote has been a staple of the Riga nightlife scene for a number of years, it’s a mostly Latvian club with a cool decor and plenty of VIP tables (worth booking).

Riga Nightlife - Experience Baltics Club First wins the award for best interior, having integrated an aeroplane into the stage area. The club often has live acts, bands and artists from Russia and around the world. Free entry but worth booking a table for the best overall experience.

Over the past few years Riga nightlife has developed, where before it was about large groups of lads flooding the Old Town, it’s now about enjoying the Baltic vibe. Best enjoyed slowly is the tourist boards slogan, this is perhaps the best way to sum up the Riga nightlife, it’s about discovery, taking your time and enjoying what this great city has to offer.
