Gauja National Park tour

The Gauja National Park is the largest and oldest of the national parks in Latvia, and it should be enjoyed slowly. The national park is located in the Vidzeme region which is a perfect place for those hungry for nature and history. Discover the beauty of Gauja National Park, enjoy a picnic in the woods, learn something new about beer brewing, try a cherry beer, and visit one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the Baltics.

This tour will start from Sigulda, also called Switzerland of Vidzeme because of the multiple hills and mountains in and around the town. Sigulda is located in Gauja National Park which protects the rich nature of the ancient Gauja River valley and its surrounding areas. Our knowledgeable guide will take you on a 3-4 hour tour in the park so you can enjoy the true nature of the Gauja valley. We will prepare everything for a forest picnic so you can gather strength and continue on the path.

After the hike you will have the chance to take a look at how beer, bread, and other goodies are made. This activity will take place at Town Raiskums. After the excursion you will try 3 different types of beer- lager, dark, and cherry beer which you can enjoy together with homemade snacks. After the beer tasting roads will lead you to your hotel in town Cesis.

Cesis is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the Baltics, with over 800 years of history. In all seasons people who appreciate the historical and cultural heritage, the natural beauty of the landscape, and the peaceful small-town life rhythm, visits Cesis. The hotel is located in the middle of the Cesis old town and all the main attractions are within walking distance.

There is no better way than to start the day with a hike, that’s why day 2 will start with a 3-4 hour tour in Gauja National Park, but this time you will discover trails near town Cesis. Also on this day, we will prepare food for a 3-course meal in the woods. Be quiet, listen to sounds of nature and you will be lucky to see wild animals, birds, and other creatures who call this place home.
